Top 10 Reasons for Concern in 2008

The Concerned Conservative has found the top 10 reasons for concern from 2008. Here they are:

10. Mike Huckabee was actually popular to some degree. Why the reason for concern? Because the image we conservatives have of being stubborn, religious fanatics is only going to get perpetuated by this guy. That and he told reporters he would never go negative, and followed that up by showing them a negative ad. The media loves him because they know he stands no chance against any Democrat in any election.

9. John McCain was the Republican nominee for President. That's what the conservative party gets when they open up their primaries to Independents and Democrats in some states. How else do you think the old man won New Hampshire and Florida? It's a sad state of affairs when the major party that should represent conservativism doesn't nominate a conservative.

8. Sarah Palin. Why be concerned? Did you see her Katie Couric interviews? Did you ever listen to her speak? Worse yet, she somehow developed a cult-like following that could actually compete with Ron Paul! The fact that many Republicans want her to have a future in our party is a very big reason for concern.

7. The Proposition 8 backlash. It's not ok for Mormons and Catholics to donate to Yes on 8, but it's ok for celebrities and Hollywood to donate to No on 8? Typical liberal double standard. What's worse is the media attention on these people. Even after proving they are the real bigots, the media still portrays homosexuals in a sympathetic light. If that doesn't concern you then nothing will.

6. The bailout(s). One just wasn't enough? Give all this taxpayer money to companies who have already proven their ineptitude? Why not give it back to the tax payers, who have a proven record of spending money when they get more of it? Guess it would have affected the Congressmen's campaign contributions to help the tax payers and not the failing corporations...

5. The financial crisis. What's more concerning is the media's constant attention to it. They are trying to make everything seem as bad as possible so that when Obama takes office they can stop and try to make everything seem as good as possible. There's no way this guy doesn't go for two terms. Even if the situation gets worse, no one will know it, because he is the media poster boy. They would never do anything to make him look bad.

4. Political scandals. 2008 was truly an exceptional year for political scandal. If trends continue, expect to see more impeached governors, indicted senators and imprisoned representatives. For being a "do nothing" Congress they sure were busy...

3. Mitt Romney has not taken over the Republican party. We are in a financial crisis, we are completely disorganized as a party, we're losing seats across the board in Congress....wait, isn't there a guy who knows how to deal with this, since he made a career out of it? Oh yeah, the rich guy who is a financial genius and known for being Mr. Fix-It. And how is it our party has not tried to buoy him up as our natural leader?

2. No one listened to Ron Paul. And there's still no one listening. The man may not be charismatic, but he understands economics and he understands the constitution. He also understands the 10th amendment, something the Bush administration must have overlooked years ago. He also understands foreign policy. In fact, if it weren't for his crazy followers, people might take him seriously. He's really got his stuff together.

1. The whole last 8 years. Yes, I mean George W. Bush, perhaps the worst U.S. President in history. No one grew the debt quite like him. No one grew the federal government quite like him. He is ignorant and inept, and surrounds himself with others like him. That's a recipe for disaster. He's proven to be more of a liberal than a conservative. And it only took him years to realize there was no more war to be fought in Iraq and it was time to leave. Great timing. The sooner the Bush family disappears from national politics, the better. My guess is when our posterity tells legends and stories, they will tell of the Midas touch, and they will tell of it's opposite, the Bush touch.

Let's hope 2009 gives us less reason to be concerned than 2008 did...
