About the Concerned Conservative

I am a conservative, and I am concerned. There is a lot to be concerned about in these times, but let me explain what concerns me the most. There is a fantastic book called "Equality by Default." In it, the author explains some interesting aspects of modern politics. He made one very insightful point.

The modern mindset in politics is what he refers to as equality by default. This means that as rational beings, the opinions of all human beings are inherently equal. Since we all think rationally, we can therefore assume that regardless of one's opinion, they both used the same means to arrive at their conclusions, and as such, gives equal merit to both opinions. This is why liberals scream like made when the religious right attempts to say that their opinion is "right" in certain issues. The liberal would say that no one is right and no one is wrong; all opinions are equal.

That is the interesting part. All opinions are equal, except some opinions are more equal than others. It works like this. A conservative says "My opinion is right and homosexuality is immoral." The liberal says "Your opinion is not right, it is wrong. Homosexuality is moral and all opinions are equal, so there." Basically all opinions are equal, providing that you believe your opinion to be equal to all others. Those who feel their opinion is correct or superior to another's, well, their opinions aren't as equal. It's quite an interesting paradox.

Yet so it is with liberalism. Michael Savage put it best- "Liberalism is a mental disorder." Just look at all the contradictions and double standards. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand. You have to believe that global temperature is less affected by documented cyclical changes in Earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms in SUV's. You have to believe that racial quotas and set-asides are not perpetuating racism. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal. You have to believe that it’s okay to give Federal workers off on Christmas Day but it’s not okay to say “Merry Christmas.”

This mental disorder must be stopped. We have to fix out failed education system. We have to stop trying to fix the world and worry about fixing our own country. I am on a personal quest to ward off the invasion of radical liberalism. If you're with me, please show your support and comment on the posts with extra facts to support the arguments presented. If you're against me, then please show your dissent with your typical ad hominem attacks in the comments. I welcome them.

Long live Conservativism!
